Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail – Ozarks Division

Table Rock Lake results:  June 12, 2010

The Friday night meeting was held at Cape Fair Park, with 12 members in attendance.  Our division Chaplain, Bro. John Gamblin delivered an inspirational message and a meal of grilled hamburgers and brats was furnished and cooked by Kevin Jackson, aided by his son and team mate, Brian.

The following morning six teams took off from the Cape Fair Marina ramp.  The weather was perfect for a top water bite, which worked out well for the Jacksons.  Kevin and Bryan weighed in a hefty 17.55 pound limit, anchored by the big bass of the day, a 4.74 pounder.  They had an early morning buzz bait bite that included the big fish.  While there were clouds, the fish seemed to be roaming and Kevin also had some success with an RC 1.5, sexy shad colored crank bait.  As the early morning clouds faded, they reported the fish moved up into the bushes.  Kevin and Brian moved up the James, well past Flat Creek, and caught 15 keepers on a plum colored worm.  For the days effort they took home $638.50 as a result of their win, a first place in the bonus bucks, and big bass.   Imagine what the payouts would be if we had more than the 6 teams!

The team of Randy Roustio and John Gamblin finished in second place, with 4 keepers weighing 8.31 pounds, and collected $37.50 from the bonus bucks pot.  They caught there fish in the James, throwing a Brush hog, and shaky head worm.  Bro. John also captured the “junk fish” pot with a White Bass that weighed .08 pounds when the scales finally realized there was something on them.  The almost weightless fish earned them receiving a $50.00 check.

Finishing third, and collecting $25.00 from the Bonus Bucks pot, was the team of Jimmy Blanton and Darren Peters.  They had 4 fish weighing 7.62 pounds.  There fish also came from the James and were caught on crank baits.

The team of Garon Smith and Greg Johnson landed the second biggest bass of the day and were paid $24.00.  The fish was caught on a lipless, sexy shad colored, crankbait.

A special thanks to the Bridgeport Inn at Cape Fair!  All reports were positive from the anglers staying there.  They can be reached at:  Bridgeport@bridgeportresort.com.  The attendants at the Cape Fair Park deserve a special mention for taking excellent care of the campgrounds!
